Initial research into Audio Visual Products LO2 - P2

 ITV 2 

ITV 2 Shows programmed that are similar to reality TV shows for example a comedy show would be “bad chefs” which is a adult humour show as well as bobs burgers , this is because ITV target audiences is mainly for people who are 16+ and above 20 because some shows on ITV can have dark humour and the dating programmes aren’t really appropriate for kids under the ages of 16 to be watching and people above these age ranges can’t really watch dark humour if they find it offensive in any way.

ITV personality is really bubbly and enjoyable so some of their shows are aimed for younger generation of kids and their ident is very bright as it uses bold colours to make it stand out to the audience. As you can see here we have  jam jars full of jam inside which looks really delicious to the audience and this could be because they have been watching any cooking or eating shows and this is there because ITV 2 is very modern and a lot of people can relate to what they see on here so it keeps them entertained and allows them to keep watching more if they like to.

The main reason why Tv shows have idents is so that the audience are aware if there’s a new programme starting or if the show is ending. The colour choices that they come up with are y nice and they go well with the other colours that they use and with some of these idents they have the objects in the ident moving sort of like an animation so these jars would be jumping up and down and moving around and this also makes the ident really fun to watch.

Channel 4

Channel 4 also shows similar shows like food related and cooking as well as dating, for example Ramsays kitchen nightmares USA and some comedy shows like the big bang theory which has a lot of funny humour in it.

Their target audience is a bit older than ITV 2 as they start from the ages of 18+ to watch their shows and this is because some of their content that they show us is really mature that most underage kids won’t be interested or engaged in, Another reason for this would be that channel 4 is filled with more real life situations as it does include the daily news that we hear around us and this is why channel 4 is really well known because of its serious content but also the reality shows not like ITV 2 which is more for younger generation.

 

As of now channel 4 Ident is this sort of upside down number 4 that is running with the people on wheel chairs. 

They have done this because sometimes people don’t know how to speak or act around people who have this disability where they are unable to walk so what channel 4 has done is they have got their ident to run with these people on wheel chairs and show us that they’re not any different from us and this has been very effective because the ads were very accessible and inclusive to all of us making the disability as a spotlight like never before. This had a positive effect as researchers found that it helped respondents feel a bit more positive around disabled people and more comfortable talking with them.
